Key Characteristics
Foliage: Heart-shaped leaves that blend dark burgundy-green backgrounds with subtle, “moody” variegation in shades of soft pink, cream, or even lilac.
Relationship to Pink Princess: It is genetically the same plant but displays significantly less pink. If a Pink Princess loses its variegation due to low light or genetics, it is often rebranded as a “Burgundy Princess”.
Growth Habit: A compact climber with short internodes. It can grow upright if given a moss pole for support or be allowed to trail.
Affordability: Because it lacks the high-demand “bubblegum pink” patches, it is typically much more affordable than a high-variegation Pink Princess.

Light: Requires bright, indirect light to maintain its deep colours and any remaining variegation. While it can tolerate lower light than a high-pink specimen, insufficient light may cause it to turn entirely green.
Watering: Water when the top 2.5–5 cm (1–2 inches) of soil is dry. It is sensitive to overwatering and susceptible to root rot if left in soggy soil.
Humidity: Thrives in humidity between 50% and 70%. Regular misting or grouping plants together can help maintain these levels indoors.
Soil: Use a chunky, airy aroid mix containing potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark to ensure proper drainage.
