Growing Conditions & Care

Light
Thrives in bright, indirect light, morning sun, or partial shade. Protect from harsh, intense afternoon sunlight to prevent leaf scorching.

Watering
Water moderately during the active autumn and winter growing season. Allow the soil mix to dry out completely between waterings. Keep the bulbs dry during their summer dormancy period.

Soil
Requires loose, sandy, exceptionally well-deficient or gritty bulb potting mix. Excellent drainage is vital to prevent corm and root rotting.

Temperature and Climate
Hardy and well-suited to South African winter rainfall climates. Tolerates cool temperatures and light frost, but should be sheltered from heavy freezing conditions.

Growth Habit and Mature Size
Low-growing, compact, clump-forming bulbous perennial. Reaches a mature height of 15cm to 30cm with a spread of 10cm to 15cm.

Maintenance
Low maintenance. Leave foliage undisturbed after flowering so the leaves can feed the underground bulb for the next seasonal cycle. Resume light watering when autumn shoots emerge.
