Description

Key Characteristics
Stunning Foliage: It features narrow, sword-shaped leaves that can reach up to 2–3 feet (60–90 cm) in length. The upper surface is a deep jungle green, while the undersides are a vivid burgundy or maroon-red.
Growth Habit: It is a vigorous climbing vine. While it may creep along the ground as a juvenile, it requires vertical support to reach its full potential and produce its largest, most mature leaves.
Unique Texture: Mature leaves often develop a subtle bluish, waxy cast in bright light and have a thin, papery (chartaceous) feel.
Look-alike: It is often confused with Philodendron billietiae, but you can distinguish it by its green petioles (stems) and red leaf undersides, whereas P. billietiae has orange petioles and green undersides.

Quick Care Guide
Light: Thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves, but ensure enough brightness to prevent leggy growth.
Water: Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil feel dry. It is sensitive to overwatering; use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix (bark, perlite, charcoal) to protect its roots.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity (above 60%). If your home is dry, using a humidifier or pebble tray can help prevent crispy brown edges on the tips.
Safety: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Like most philodendrons, it contains calcium oxalate crystals that cause mouth and throat irritation.
