Frailea castanea is a miniature, slow-growing cactus native to south america. It forms small, round, slightly flattened bodies in shades of brown, olive, or reddish-purple, often with a matte surface and very short, inconspicuous spines. It produces yellow flowers and is self-pollinating.
Care requirements:
Light: bright light or gentle full sun; avoid intense midday heat if grown in very hot climates.
Water: water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between light watering; keep dry in winter.
Soil: use a fast-draining mineral-based cactus mix to prevent rot.
Temperature: prefers warmth; protect from frost and excess humidity.
