🌿 Fittonia Pink (Nerve Plant) Care Sheet
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light.
Can tolerate medium to low light, but colours are most vibrant in brighter conditions.
Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.
Watering:
Keep soil consistently moist, but not waterlogged.
Water when the top 1–2cm of soil feels dry.
Fittonia dislikes drying out completely and may wilt dramatically if underwatered.
Humidity:
Thrives in high humidity (60–80%).
Ideal for terrariums, bathrooms, or near a humidifier.
Low humidity can cause leaf edges to brown.
Temperature:
Ideal range: 18–26°C.
Sensitive to cold; avoid temperatures below 15°C.
Keep away from drafts and air conditioning.
Soil:
Use a well-draining, moisture-retentive potting mix with coco peat or perlite.
Soil should stay lightly damp without becoming soggy.
Fertilizing:
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted balanced liquid fertilizer.
Reduce or stop feeding in winter.
Pruning & Maintenance:
Pinch back stems regularly to encourage bushier growth.
Remove leggy or damaged growth.
Repotting:
Repot every 1–2 years or when rootbound.
Best repotted in spring.
Common Problems:
Wilting → underwatering or low humidity (often recovers quickly after watering).
Yellow leaves → overwatering.
Pests → spider mites, aphids, mealybugs.
