The monstera adansonii large form is one of the most sought-after houseplants, admired for its fenestrated (hole-filled) leaves that bring a touch of the tropics indoors. Its larger leaf form compared to the standard adansonii makes it especially desirable for plant enthusiasts and collectors.
Light: prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate lower light but may not grow as vigorously, and the leaves may lose their characteristic holes.
Water: allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry out before watering. Water thoroughly but ensure the pot has drainage to prevent root rot.
Humidity: loves high humidity. Mist regularly, use a humidity tray, or place near a humidifier for optimal growth.
Temperature: thrives in temperatures between 18–27°c. Protect from cold drafts and avoid temperatures below 10°c.
Soil: use a well-draining, peat-based potting mix. A mix designed for aroids or indoor plants is ideal.
Fertiliser: feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer) with a balanced, diluted liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in winter.
Pruning: trim leggy vines to maintain shape. Cut just above a node to encourage branching and fuller growth.
Toxicity: toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
