Monstera ‘Thai Constellation’ | Variegated Monstera Indoor Plant
R500.00
The Monstera ‘Thai Constellation’ is a highly coveted cultivar of the Monstera deliciosa, famous for its stable, starry variegation that features creamy-yellow splashes and speckles on deep green leaves. Unlike many other variegated plants, this variety was specifically developed in a laboratory in Thailand through tissue culture, which ensures its unique patterns are genetically stable and will not “revert” to plain green as the plant grows.

Key Characteristics
Stable Variegation: The cream-colored marbling is permanent and will appear on every new leaf.
Compact Growth: It has shorter internodes (the space between leaves) compared to the standard Monstera, resulting in a bushier, denser appearance.
Large Fenestrated Leaves: As the plant matures, its leaves develop signature holes and splits (fenestrations) and can eventually grow up to 2 feet wide.
Slow Growth Rate: Because the variegated (white/cream) parts lack chlorophyll, the plant grows more slowly than its all-green relatives.

Essential Care Guide
The ‘Thai Constellation’ is slightly more sensitive than a standard Monstera, particularly regarding its root system.
Light: Needs bright, indirect light for at least 6–8 hours a day. Avoid direct hot sun, which can scorch the delicate variegated patches, but ensure it gets enough light to maintain its vibrant patterns.
Watering: Extremely sensitive to overwatering; it is prone to root rot. Allow the top 50–75% of the soil to dry out before watering thoroughly.
Soil: Requires a chunky, well-draining aroid mix (e.g., orchid bark, perlite, and charcoal) to ensure plenty of oxygen reach the roots.
Humidity & Temp: Prefers humidity above 60% and warm temperatures between 18°C and 27°C (65°F–80°F). Protect it from cold drafts below 15°C.
Support: As a natural climber, it benefits from a moss pole or trellis, which encourages larger leaf growth.
